China International Publishing Group (CIPG) and Science and Technology Daily signed an agreement to strengthen cooperation in promoting international communication regarding science and technology in Beijing on November 20 during the 4-day World 5G Convention 2019.
The two organizations launched the International Communication Center for Science and Technology to work together in news exchange, news coverage of high-tech industrial parks and scientific workers, publication of scientific books, hosting scientific forums and exhibitions, and operating new media technologies.
“Communication technologies and the media landscape in International communication are undergoing drastic changes brought by a new round of information technology revolution. It is critical for us to introduce Chinese scientific and technological innovation to the world and promote common progress,” said CIPG President Du Zhanyuan.
“We will work together with CIPG to connect China and the world through telling Chinese stories about scientific and technological innovation,” said Li Ping, president of Science and Technology Daily.
CIPG, established on October 1, 1949, has 26 overseas offices in 14 countries and regions, with print publications distributed in over 180 countries and regions and online audiences around the world. It issues 34 periodicals in 13 languages, and also publishes about 4,000 titles of books in over 40 languages each year.
Science and Technology Daily, established on January 1, 1986, is a national newspaper that excels at tracking scientific and technological progress. It has 14 overseas news bureaus and has initiated an international union for science and technology communication, with12 foreign media outlets as its members.
From November 20 to 23, the World 5G Convention 2019, themed on “5G Changes the World, 5G Creates the Future,” will host forums, exhibitions, and competitions in 5G application design attended by government officials, 5G experts and industry leaders from across the world.
