Two strikingly giant “windmills” lie in the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area. Xinjiang Goldwind Science Technology Co., Ltd. set up China’s first “carbon-neutral” industrial park featuring renewable energy exactly at the foot of the “windmills.”
Dabancheng District of Urumqi City, capital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, is billed as “China’s California” and boasts the best wind resources worldwide. In 1982, Goldwind’s business kicked off with a simple and small wind turbine in the district. Nowadays, however, its business spans six continents and 32 countries with global cumulative installed capacity of wind power exceeding 80GW, ranking first in China and top three in the world for several consecutive years.
