“President Xi Jinping’s speech at the summit is rich and profound,” opined Vladimir Potapenko, deputy secretary-general of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), at the venue of the 2018 SCO summit on June 10 in Qingdao, eastern China’s Shandong Province. “If every plan he mentioned is implemented, it will greatly promote the development of the SCO region.”
Founded in 2001, the SCO has set a model for a new type of international relations. “To some extent, the SCO represents a new type of regional organization in which all countries, big and small, are treated equally and allowed to maintain their own development paths and interests,” Potapenko remarked.
“In his speech, President Xi presented many new plans, and now every related country needs to take action to help implement them,” he added.
